What people forget to count before a house move

Nine times out of ten, when a house move runs over, it’s one of these:

• The garage. Tools, bikes, paint tins, sports gear and boxes that have been there since the last move.
• The shed. Mowers, wheelbarrows, timber offcuts. Always more volume than expected.
• Outdoor furniture. Tables, BBQs, pots. Pots with soil are heavy and often can’t cross state borders.
• The roof cavity or under-house storage. Empty it a week before, not on the day.
• Whitegoods that weren’t disconnected. Washing machines need transit bolts and a dry hose.

How settlement day works for a house move

If you’re settling and moving on the same day, keys often don’t come through until early afternoon. We start loading in the morning, hold the load on the truck, and unload as soon as you have keys. Tell us the settlement time when you book so we can build the day around it.
