Waterloo is one of the fastest-changing parts of Sydney and almost all of it is apartments. New towers around Green Square, converted warehouses off Danks Street, and older walk-ups in between. The removalists Waterloo residents rehire are the ones who sort the lift and the loading bay before the truck leaves, because in this suburb the building decides how long the job takes.
We are based on Bondi Road, a short run in. On an hourly job that matters.

What decides how long a Waterloo move takes?
Not the furniture. The building.
- Service lift bookings. Nearly every newer block requires the building manager to reserve the lift, usually with days of notice and in a fixed window. Unbooked means waiting.
- Loading bay height limits. Basement bays around Green Square commonly rule out the 10-tonne truck. We check the clearance before choosing the vehicle.
- Certificates of currency. Strata managers here routinely ask for proof of public liability insurance before releasing the bay. We carry $20 million and send it the same day.
- Older walk-ups. The blocks that predate the redevelopment often have no lift at all, which is a crew-size question rather than a booking one.
Green Square towers, Danks Street conversions and the older blocks
The Green Square end is new towers with lifts, bays and controlled access. The carry is short once you are inside; the coordination is the work. Danks Street and the converted warehouses have big open apartments and a shared goods lift that is usually slower than it looks.
The older walk-ups between them have none of that, and two or three flights instead.
Telling us which of the three you are in is the fastest way to a quote that holds on the day.
Green Square towers all run on booked lifts. How apartment moves are timed explains what to arrange with the building first.
What we move most in Waterloo
- Studio, one and two-bedroom apartments in the newer towers
- Warehouse conversions off Danks Street
- Walk-up units in the older blocks
- Single items and part loads, including same-day furniture delivery
- Packing and unpacking, full or partial
Beds, tables and flat-pack wardrobes come apart and go back together as part of the hourly rate, and we bring the tools. Wall-mounted TVs with in-wall cabling and plumbed-in appliances need a licensed trade — the one exception, and we say so before the day.
How much removalists cost in Waterloo
| Package | Weekday | Weekend | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 removalists + 4.5t truck (20–22m³) | $149/hr | $159/hr | 1–2 bedrooms |
| 2 removalists + 6.5t truck (30m³) | $169/hr | $179/hr | 2–3 bedrooms |
| 3 removalists + 10t truck (45m³) | $229/hr | $239/hr | 3–4 bedrooms |
Two-hour minimum. Blankets, ropes, trolleys, dollies, shrink wrap and power tools included. Weekend rates are $10 per hour above weekday.
A one-bedroom apartment with a booked lift typically runs two to three hours. The same flat with an unbooked lift can run five, and that is not a crew problem.
No fuel levy and no stair fee. Travel time is charged at a 45-minute minimum, or the actual travel time if it runs longer — never both — at your package’s hourly rate, on top of the two-hour minimum. Your tracking link shows the minute the crew left our Bondi depot, so you can check it against the invoice. Time rounded to the nearest 15 minutes, not up to the hour. A $50 booking fee confirms your date.
Track the truck — and check the invoice against the clock
Every job runs on our own live tracking system. You get a link showing when the crew leaves, when they arrive, when loading starts and finishes, and the running time as it happens.
Your invoice is generated from the times in that link. Rounded to the nearest 15 minutes. Every job ends with a walkthrough and a signed completion form before we charge anything.
In a building with a timed loading bay, this works in your favour. You can see how much of the window went on the move and how much went on waiting for the lift — a conversation you can have with your strata manager with evidence rather than impressions.

Insured, rated and strata-ready: removalists Waterloo buildings accept
- $20 million public liability insurance, plus transit and cargo cover. The certificate goes to your strata manager the day you ask — here that is what gets the bay released.
- 5.0 stars from 94 Google reviews.
- Signed completion form on every job, so there are no invoice surprises.
- Photographed condition reports, before and during — useful in buildings with shared lifts and common-property walls.
- Local crews, based in Bondi rather than dispatched across the city at 6am to arrive late for a timed bay.
When a removalist says they are “fully insured”, ask which cover they mean. Public liability and transit insurance are different policies and only one protects your furniture on the truck.
Waterloo removalists FAQ
How much do removalists cost in Waterloo?
From $149 per hour on weekdays and $159 on weekends for two removalists and a 4.5-tonne truck, including GST, two-hour minimum. A one-bedroom apartment with a booked lift typically runs two to three hours.
Who books the service lift?
Your building manager does, and most strata only accept the request from a resident. We tell you exactly what to ask for and when.
Do you provide a certificate of currency for strata?
Yes. We carry $20 million public liability insurance and send the certificate the same day you ask.
Will your truck fit in the basement loading bay?
Depends on the clearance. Tell us the building and the height limit and we will send the truck that fits, usually the 6.5-tonne rather than the 10-tonne.
Can you quote from photos?
Yes. Send photos of the rooms on WhatsApp with your building name and we will give you the truck, the crew and the likely hours.
How far in advance should I book?
A week for weekdays. Longer if your building only releases the lift in specific windows.
