Moving interstate is a different job to moving suburbs. The risk isn’t the lifting — it’s the two or three days your belongings spend on the road, and the uncertainty of not knowing where they are. We fix both with insured transit and tracking from pickup to delivery.

Backloading vs a dedicated truck for interstate removals

Dedicated truck — your load travels alone, direct to the destination. Fastest and most predictable; you choose the delivery date. Best for full homes and tight timelines.

Backloading (shared truck) — your belongings share space on a truck already running that route. Significantly cheaper, with a delivery window rather than a fixed date. Best for smaller loads and flexible dates.

Tell us your volume and how flexible your dates are, and we’ll quote both so you can compare.

What’s included in an interstate removal

How much interstate removalists cost from Sydney

Interstate isn’t charged hourly — it’s quoted on volume (cubic metres), distance and access at both ends. That’s why an accurate inventory matters: guessing low means a surprise on the day.

Send us a room-by-room list, or use our quote form and we’ll estimate the volume with you. You’ll get a written quote with the price, the transit window and exactly what’s covered.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an interstate move from Sydney cost?

It depends on volume and route. A one-bedroom apartment (roughly 15–20m³) Sydney to Melbourne typically sits well below a three-bedroom house (35–50m³). Backloading can cut the cost substantially if your dates are flexible. We quote both options.

How long will my belongings take to arrive?

Sydney to Canberra is usually 1–2 days, Melbourne 1–3 days, Brisbane 2–3 days. Backloading takes longer because the truck is running a route — we give you a delivery window before you book.

Is my furniture insured while it’s travelling?

We carry $20 million public liability. For interstate moves we also explain transit insurance options, which cover the goods themselves while in transit — we’ll walk you through what each one actually covers before you decide.

Can you store my things if my new place isn’t ready?

Yes. We arrange storage at either end and deliver when you’re ready.

What can’t you transport interstate?

Flammables, gas bottles, aerosols, paint, fuel and perishable food can’t go on the truck. Plants are restricted across some state borders due to quarantine rules. We’ll flag anything on your inventory that’s a problem.
