Maroubra is the largest suburb in the Eastern Suburbs and the most mixed: beachfront units, big post-war houses on the hill, walk-up blocks along Anzac Parade and newer apartments around Pacific Square. Which Maroubra are you moving in?
The suburb runs from the beach up to Maroubra Junction, and the move changes completely depending on where you sit on that hill.
- Beachfront and Marine Parade. Apartments, many of them older walk-ups, with parking that disappears the moment the weather is good.
- The Junction and Anzac Parade. Denser blocks, shops below, bus traffic all day, and kerbside space that is metered or time-limited.
- The hill and the residential streets. Freestanding houses and semis with driveways, wider streets, and the easiest truck access in the suburb.
- Pacific Square and the newer blocks. Lifts and loading bays, but both usually need booking through the building manager, and strata will want an insurance certificate first.
Stairs, driveways and what actually drives the price
The biggest variable in a Maroubra move is not distance. It is whether the truck can park close and whether there are stairs between it and your door.
A house on the hill with a driveway is one of the easiest jobs in the Eastern Suburbs — the truck sits at the door and the crew walks a flat path. A second-floor walk-up on Anzac Parade with no off-street parking is the opposite, and quoting both the same way is how a job runs long.
Randwick City Council issues removalist parking permits and generally needs a few business days. If there is no driveway at either end, plan for one rather than hoping for a gap on the kerb.
Maroubra Beach, Maroubra Junction and South Maroubra
Maroubra Beach is apartments and the tightest parking, especially on a warm weekend.
Maroubra Junction is the commercial centre, denser and busier, with bus traffic on Anzac Parade all day. South Maroubra is quieter and more residential, with houses, driveways and room for a bigger truck.
