Bondi Junction is the most vertical suburb in the Eastern Suburbs. Most of our work here is high-rise: lift bookings, loading docks, strata paperwork and a hard time window. That changes how a move should be planned, and it’s worth understanding before you book anyone.
Moving in Bondi Junction?
Straight answer on price and availability — usually within minutes.
Bondi Junction is the only part of the Eastern Suburbs that moves like the CBD. High-rise towers with basement loading docks, service lifts that have to be booked days ahead, building managers who want an insurance certificate before a truck comes near the ramp, and height limits that rule out the biggest truck entirely. The removalists Bondi Junction residents rehire are the ones who deal with the building before they deal with the furniture.
We are based on Bondi Road, five minutes down the hill. That is not a slogan on an hourly job — the clock starts when the truck leaves the depot, and ours does not leave from Western Sydney.

What makes a Bondi Junction move different from the rest of the Eastern Suburbs?
Everywhere else around here, the hard part is the street. In Bondi Junction, the hard part is the building.
- Service lift bookings. Almost every residential tower requires the building manager to reserve the lift, usually with several days’ notice and often in a fixed time window. If the lift is not booked, the crew waits, and the wait is on your clock.
- Basement dock height limits. Many of the newer buildings have a basement loading dock with a clearance bar. A 10-tonne truck will not fit under several of them. Getting this wrong means the truck parks on the street and everything gets carried further.
- Certificates of currency. Strata managers routinely ask for proof of public liability insurance before releasing the dock or the lift. We carry $20 million public liability and can send the certificate the same day you ask.
- Time-limited dock slots. Some buildings allocate a two or three-hour window. Finishing inside it is a planning problem, not a strength problem.
- Traffic and parking. Oxford Street Mall, the bus and rail interchange and Westfield mean kerbside space is scarce and metered. Early starts are worth more here than anywhere else nearby.
Towers, walk-ups and the two very different jobs in this suburb
Bondi Junction is not uniform, and the price difference between its two halves is real.
The tower half — Spring Street, Grafton Street, the newer blocks around the interchange — has lifts, docks and controlled access. The carry is short once you are inside, but everything depends on the booking. A well-booked tower move is one of the fastest jobs we do. A badly booked one is a crew standing in a foyer.
The older half — the streets running back towards Bondi Road and Waverley — is walk-up blocks and semis from the 1960s and 70s. No lift, three flights, and a staircase that turns. That is a crew-size question, not a lift-booking question.
Telling us which half you are in is the single most useful thing you can do when you book. It changes the truck, the crew and the start time.
Booking the lift and the dock: how we handle it
We do not book your building’s lift — the building manager does, and most strata will only take that request from a resident. What we do is tell you exactly what to ask for, so the request goes in once and correctly.
When you book with us we will confirm four things with you: whether your building has a service lift or a passenger lift only, whether there is a basement dock and what its height clearance is, what time window the building allows, and whether the strata manager needs our certificate of currency in advance. That is a five-minute conversation that routinely saves an hour on the day.
If the dock clearance rules out the larger truck, we send the 6.5-tonne instead and plan two runs rather than one — which is almost always cheaper than a big truck parked on Oxford Street with the crew walking the difference.
One more thing worth knowing: the lift window and the dock window are often not the same booking. Some buildings release the loading bay for three hours but only allocate the service lift for two, and the two requests go to different people. We ask about both when you book, because discovering the gap at 9am on moving day is the most common way a well-planned tower move runs over.
Waverley Council parking permits
If your building has no dock, or the dock is full, the truck needs a legal place to stand. Waverley Council issues removalist parking permits and applications generally need a few business days.
This is not something to organise on the morning of the move. Tell us both addresses when you book and we will tell you whether a permit applies and what the council will want. It costs nothing to check and it is the difference between a truck outside your door and a truck circling the block on your clock.
Lift slots, dock heights and time windows work much the same in towers across Sydney. We walk through how an apartment move is timed from start to finish if yours is the first.
What we move most in Bondi Junction
- One and two-bedroom apartments in the towers around the interchange
- Walk-up units in the older blocks towards Waverley and Bondi Road
- Three-bedroom apartments and sub-penthouses with lift-only access
- Small office and studio relocations — the suburb has a lot of them
- Single items and part loads, including same-day furniture delivery across Sydney
- Packing and unpacking, full or partial, when the boxes are the part you are dreading
Beds, tables and flat-pack wardrobes are taken apart and rebuilt as part of the hourly rate, and we bring the tools. Wall-mounted TVs with in-wall cabling and plumbed-in appliances need a licensed trade — that is the one exception, and we tell you before the day rather than on it.
How much removalists cost in Bondi Junction
| Package | Weekday | Weekend | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 removalists + 4.5t truck (20–22m³) | $149/hr | $159/hr | 1–2 bedrooms |
| 2 removalists + 6.5t truck (30m³) | $169/hr | $179/hr | 2–3 bedrooms |
| 3 removalists + 10t truck (45m³) | $229/hr | $239/hr | 3–4 bedrooms |
Two-hour minimum. Every package includes protective blankets, removalist ropes, trolleys and dollies, shrink wrap and power tools. Weekend rates are $10 per hour above weekday rates on every package.
A one-bedroom apartment with a booked lift typically runs two to three hours. A two-bedroom runs three to five. A walk-up on the older side of the suburb sits at the top of those ranges, because stairs are slower than lifts and no amount of quoting changes that.
Two things that are not on your invoice: no fuel levy and no stair fee. Travel time is charged at a 45-minute minimum, or the actual travel time if it runs longer — never both — at your package’s hourly rate, on top of the two-hour minimum. Your tracking link shows the minute the crew left our Bondi depot, so you can check it against the invoice. Time is rounded to the nearest 15 minutes, not rounded up to the hour.
A $50 booking fee confirms your date. It is non-refundable on cancellation or no-show, and reschedules are accepted on 48 hours’ notice. Full pricing is published here.
Track the truck — and check the invoice against the clock
Every job runs on our own live tracking system. You get a link showing when the crew leaves, when they arrive, when loading starts and finishes, and the running time as it happens. No calling the office to ask where the truck is.
Here is the part that matters more than the tracking itself: your invoice is generated from the times in that link. Rounded to the nearest 15 minutes, not rounded up to the hour. Every job also ends with a walkthrough and a signed completion form before we charge anything.
In a building with a timed dock slot, this cuts both ways in your favour. You can see when the crew arrived, when the lift was actually released, and how much of the window was spent waiting on the building rather than on the move. That is a conversation you can have with your strata manager with evidence instead of impressions.

Insured, rated and strata-ready: removalists Bondi Junction buildings accept
- $20 million public liability insurance, plus transit and cargo cover on the goods themselves. The certificate of currency goes to your strata manager the day you ask for it — in this suburb that is not a nice-to-have, it is what gets the dock released.
- 5.0 stars from 94 Google reviews. Read them before you call us; that is what they are for.
- Signed completion form on every job, so there are no invoice surprises.
- Local crews, based on Bondi Road rather than dispatched from the other side of Sydney at 6am to arrive late for a timed dock slot.
- Photographed condition reports. We record any pre-existing damage before we start and anything that happens during the move — useful in a building with shared lifts and common-property walls.
When a removalist tells you they are “fully insured”, ask which cover they mean. Public liability and transit insurance are different policies and only one of them protects your furniture on the truck. It is a fair question and a good operator will not mind answering it.
Building managers ask for the certificate for a reason. It is worth knowing what that cover actually pays for before you need it.
Bondi Junction removalists FAQ
How much do removalists cost in Bondi Junction?
Rates start at $149 per hour on weekdays and $159 on weekends for two removalists and a 4.5-tonne truck, including GST, with a two-hour minimum. A one-bedroom apartment with a booked lift typically runs two to three hours; a two-bedroom runs three to five.
Who books the service lift?
Your building manager does, and most strata will only accept that request from a resident. We tell you exactly what to ask for and when, so it goes in once and correctly.
Do you provide a certificate of currency for strata?
Yes. We carry $20 million public liability insurance and send the certificate the same day you ask. Most Bondi Junction buildings will want it before releasing the dock or the lift.
Will your truck fit in the basement dock?
Depends on the clearance. Tell us the building and the height limit and we will send the truck that fits — usually the 6.5-tonne rather than the 10-tonne for basement access.
Do I need a parking permit?
Only if the building has no dock or the dock is unavailable. Waverley Council issues removalist permits and generally needs a few business days.
Can you move me on a weekend?
Yes, at $10 per hour above the weekday rate. Note that many buildings restrict dock and lift access on Sundays, so check your by-laws before locking in the day.
What happens if the building runs late releasing the lift?
The tracking link timestamps when the crew arrived and when loading actually started, so waiting time is visible rather than assumed. If the delay was the building’s, you have a record of it to take to your strata manager.
Do you move small offices in Bondi Junction?
Yes. The suburb has a lot of small studios and professional suites, and after-hours moves are often easier because the dock is free — see office removals.
Can you quote before I book the lift?
Yes. Send photos of the rooms on WhatsApp with your building name and we will give you the truck, the crew and the likely hours, so you know what window to ask the building for.
How far in advance should I book?
A week for weekday moves. Two to three weeks for Saturdays and the end of the month, and longer if your building only releases the lift in specific windows.
